End of Year Message 2008
Contribute now

A team organized by Tom raised over $1800 for autism research.
I hope you are enjoying this time as we head to the end of the year.
Our strategy is coming together for next year's campaigning. Right now, I am asking for your support again before filing my end-of-year fundraising report. So far we have garnered attention both from people within the party at the state level and also have attracted the attention of my opponent for next year. Let's give them something to worry about as they take a look at our public campaign finance filing in January!
Our accomplishments
- I have met with each of the Committees in the 165th. Talking with committee people and getting their support. The key to starting early was to let people in the party know who I am and that has happened. People are talking about my candidacy and we have built a strong base of support throughout the district.
-
Gotten this web site up and running to establish who I am and let people know about the campaign for change in the 165th.
-
Held several canvassing events in Springfield reaching over 1500 voters and organizing door-to-door efforts unlike anything Springfield has seen in a long time.
-
Held voter registration drives in Springfield.
-
We participated in and raised over $1800 for the Walk Now for Autism in Philadelphia.
-
Coordinated efforts on election day to ensure that the polls were covered and everything possible was done to get people out to vote. The number of Democrats working the polls was a vast improvement over years past.
-
Helped to recruit and train new volunteers to grow the party and see that people in the 165th have the opportunity for real choice in '08.
-
I met with leaders in Harrisburg and the state Democratic Committee to let them know that an energized and committed candidate will be going all out in the 165th. They are watching me closely in terms of making a choice whether to support my effort in 2008: my success in campaign contributions is key to that effort.
-
Held our first fundraising event, bringing in $5,000. Attendance from across the district was part of our strategy to compete and win next year.
-
Published four letters in the local press about issues and ideas affecting our district. We must have struck a chord: the opposition denounced me this week. We must be doing something right!
-
Held meetings with serving representatives like Congressman Sestak. I have garnered endorsements from Congressman Sestak, Congressman Rob Andrews from New Jersey, State Senator Connie Williams as well as State Representatives Bryan Lentz, Greg Vitali and Daylin Leach.
-
Called "disingenuous" by Michael Puppio at the most recent County Council Meeting for daring to question the timing of Delco's tax increase. I must be doing something right!

What I'll Be Doing
We have done a lot this past year, but there is much, much more to be done. In January 2008, I'll be knocking on doors across the district to let people know who I am. As Greg Vitali has advised me, I plan to knock on them all. Mine will be a message based on the need for a new vision for the district – a vision that will demand action on healthcare, a commitment to our kids and their education, and the never wavering desire to see that Harrisburg is committed and engaged in making the 165th the best place for all of us and our kids to live. I have said it is time to expect more and it is.
I need your help. Let's realize a vision based on hope. We are all limitless in what we can achieve if we do it together. Never turn away from a challenge.
I challenge you now: please contribute: http://www.actblue.com/page/quinn165.
Thank you for what you have already done and for your continued support. I will do everything in my power to earn your trust and respect and when I get to Harrisburg I will not let you down.
All the best and have a safe and happy holiday season,
Tom Quinn
