Growing local business requires all of us to work together.
The continued prosperity for some and the need to do better for others makes the economic health of our district vitally important. In Harrisburg I will work to:
-
Find a real solution for dedicated funding for mass transit as well as road maintenance. We must take a long term view in terms of our transportation system to make sure our economy continues to move and provide for the safety and security that people expect. Finding dedicated sources of funding to build roads and provide funding for SEPTA is essential.
-
Expand the use and creation of alternative energy. Let's take a leadership role here in the 165th in this growing market of new energy development. This is the challenge of this generation to find a true solution to our reliance on foreign oil. Our district should be at the fore of new technology and this vast potential new industry.
-
Work to see that the 165th gets its share of state redevelopment grants. Why do we see so many empty spaces on Baltimore Pike? Ours is a vibrant community with so much to offer, but we still see vacant storefronts. There is a need for a strategic plan to capitalize on the unrealized potential of this district. Why is traffic so hard to get through as you travel down Baltimore Pike toward the Blue Route and yet we see businesses come and go with such frequency? Let's create a plan to make the most out of our community. Don't we deserve that?

Work to create a women's business resource center in Delaware County. Congressman Sestak has been working on getting federal funds for a center to help women take on the challenges of entrepreneurship. We can help break that glass ceiling by tapping into Delaware County's own successful women in business to help others follow in their footsteps.
